We are proud to introduce the first of our distance management classes! We are honored to have Jimmy Holmes of Demotte Boxing Club as a guest instructor. Jimmy and Demotte Boxing Club have produced multiple champions and continue to so.
Class is on Dec 2 from 1300-1700
Deadly force encounters all have one common theme, the bad guy has to close the distance. Everyday life puts us in close proximity to others' and occasionally that someone could be a predator.
This class covers:
- Managing the distance with an aggressor
- Your and your attacker's OODA loop
- Slipping punches
- The most effective punches and combinations for a violent encounter
- Common punches seen during attacks
We will provide hand wraps/gloves for the class.
An open mind committed to the safety of those around you. No one cares that you are tough, fast, or strong. Safety is paramount
Enough water to hydrate yourself through a moderately physical 4 hours
Shoes that aren't worn outdoors or a willingness to do the class barefoot or in socks
Class will be December 2nd at demotte Boxing club gym.
Jimmy Holmes is a retired professional boxer who works with fighters out of the DeMotte Boxing Club to help them not only achieve success in the ring, but also in life. He believes that through hard work, perseverance, and strong will, people can achieve dreams that might seem impossible.
Jimmy put his small home town of DeMotte, Indiana on the map by winning the Indiana State Middleweight Boxing Title in 2005 and closed out his professional boxing career with a record of 20 wins, 4 losses, 2 draws, and 1 no contest. He was highlighted in Cigar Magazine and has boxed on ESPN. Jimmy was inducted into the Bare Knuckle Boxing Hall of Fame in 2017, has been awarded the coveted Sarge Johnson boxing coach award 2 times and has coached over 25 State Champs in his 10 years as a boxing trainer.
Jimmy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Ball State University and has enjoyed teaching kids for over 18 years.
